{"id":1187,"date":"2013-07-29T02:28:16","date_gmt":"2013-07-29T02:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/?p=1187"},"modified":"2013-07-31T14:33:36","modified_gmt":"2013-07-31T14:33:36","slug":"1187","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/?p=1187","title":{"rendered":"A Fix and Some Finishing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>7 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Although the last three shouldn&#8217;t count because I spent them fixing something I should never have had to in the first place.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130728-192738.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"20130728-192738.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130728-192738.jpg\" \/><\/a>That little corner of aluminum is the bane of my life. \u00a0 \u00a0Since I put the wings on, I&#8217;ve caught it on shoes, shirts, and finally, the belt on my jeans. \u00a0 When this happens, it bends. \u00a0 This time, I bent the crap out of it, so badly, that I had to remove the fasteners on the skin, peel it back, and hammer it flat again. \u00a0The light makes it look worse than it is, but it&#8217;s still pretty bad. \u00a0 Fixed now, though.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130728-192751.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"20130728-192751.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130728-192751.jpg\" \/><\/a>The day wasn&#8217;t all bad. \u00a0 I got the fuel pump overflow plumbed. \u00a0 I used some of the tubing I had from the MAP sensor install to create a flexible link between the output of the fuel pump to the hard line shown here. \u00a0 The engine wiggles. \u00a0The aluminum tubing doesn&#8217;t. \u00a0 I need a flexible line between the two.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130728-192805.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" alt=\"20130728-192805.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130728-192805.jpg\" \/><\/a>The fuel sensors concerned me for a minute. \u00a0 When I connected the wings, I had some little extra wires that I thought I&#8217;d run for spares. \u00a0 I guess this is why you label things. \u00a0 After some pondering, I realized these were the fuel level sender wires. \u00a0 Duh. \u00a0The good news is that I didn&#8217;t have to do any splicing and apparently I cut them to the right length. \u00a0 A couple of connectors later and I had fuel level, which was, of course, zero.<\/p>\n<p>No luck on the OAT sender though. \u00a0 Either my EFIS or the probe is bunk. \u00a0 OAT reads a steady 32 degrees F. \u00a0Have to contact MGL for a new one.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>7 hours.
