{"id":1217,"date":"2013-08-26T00:15:38","date_gmt":"2013-08-26T00:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/?p=1217"},"modified":"2013-08-26T00:15:38","modified_gmt":"2013-08-26T00:15:38","slug":"equal-parts-forward-and-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/?p=1217","title":{"rendered":"Equal parts forward and back."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>6 hours.<\/p>\n<p>One of these days, I&#8217;ll move forward without moving backwards. \u00a0Today I had to dismount the EFIS in preparation for taking it to MGL Avionics. \u00a0 Apparently the OAT module is fried. \u00a0I tried it with a new probe last week, no dice. \u00a0 Maybe, if I&#8217;m lucky, I&#8217;ll be able to drop it off tomorrow on my lunch hour. \u00a0 Other than that annoyance, I got the tailwheel hardware primed, something I should have done long ago, and I got my spark plugs torqued in. \u00a0 But now, for some mysterious reason, the tailwheel steering chains don&#8217;t reach their mounting points on the rudder anymore. \u00a0 It&#8217;s possible I had the steering link on upside down\/backwards, which would have accounted for the missing 3\/4&#8243; of chain necessary to bridge the gap between what I need and what I&#8217;ve got. \u00a0 Looks like I&#8217;ll be ordering another set of tailwheel chains. \u00a0Grumble.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, once I get my EFIS back from the shop, it&#8217;ll be time to prepare the engine for first start.<\/p>\n<p>On another note, I&#8217;m progressing nicely in my tailwheel training. \u00a0 We flew from Torrance to Hawthorne, where I did 8 landings, unassisted. \u00a0 Apparently I CAN land a Citabria in 3-point attitude. \u00a0 At least when the wind is coming at me and I set up the approach right.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>6 hours.
