Thanks Van!\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1878.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nLaid out on the skin. See, you write INSIDE and OUTSIDE on the skins so you don't do something retarded like dimple the skins the wrong way. No I did not do that.. Smart monkey prevailed.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1879.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nDeburring press. Yep. Set the drill press for its absolute lowest RPM, chuck a big bit in there and you have a deburring machine. Good for repetitive tasks.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1880.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nDimples in skin match dimples in stiffener.. Let's prime. Yes I said I was going to do the Alodine\/epoxy primer thing, but screw it.. I still got a bunch of SEM self etching primer around, so I'll use that up first.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1881.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nStiffeners primed, laying them out on the skin for fit before riveting, and to make sure I clear the blue stuff. Wouldn't do to rivet the blue stuff in under the stiffener.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1882.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nCouple of primed stiffeners, and one of the stiffeners riveted on. The blue stuff isn't trapped in there, it's right at the edge.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1883.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nOn this job, riveter's tape saves the day like Team America. The green part is sticky, the clear part between is not. It protects the rivets and the skin from the mean old back-rivet plate and helps in lining up the stiffener on the inside.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1884.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nNow this formerly wobbly skin can hold its own on the parts shelf.\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/stjohn.openbar.com\/airplane\/images\/11-27-05\/IMG_1885.JPG\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"\nSee?\nMore next time when we do the same thing to the other skin.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>4 hours This process is easy.
